About The Position

The Software Engineer - Product will build and operate AI-powered products and software for an AI-native commercial insurance brokerage. The role combines insurance expertise with automation across the brokerage lifecycle, including prospecting, quoting, policy binding, and customer service. Engineers work closely with business and operations teams to identify problems, build practical solutions, and ship improvements that directly affect business performance.

The engineer owns one or more business KPIs and takes solutions from problem discovery through prototyping, implementation, deployment, and iteration. The work includes building agentic AI systems, RAG architectures, MCP integrations, and automation workflows; developing production-grade systems using modern AI frameworks, APIs, and cloud infrastructure; and supporting live services through on-call participation and incident response. The role emphasizes rapid execution, autonomy, measurable outcomes, and AI-assisted development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code.

The position is on-site in San Francisco, California, five days per week. Compensation includes a base salary of $180,000–$280,000, competitive equity, and quarterly performance bonuses. Total cash compensation may be significantly higher than base salary depending on performance and the applicable bonus structure. Visa transfers, including OPT and H-1B transfers, are accepted.

Requirements

• At least 4 years of professional software engineering experience.
• Experience building and shipping production software; AI-native or fast-growing startup experience is preferred.
• Strong product engineering skills, including taking problems from discovery through deployment.
• Experience building AI-powered applications, automation, or systems that address real business problems.
• Ability to work directly with non-technical stakeholders and translate business needs into technical solutions.
• Demonstrated ownership of projects, features, or systems with measurable outcomes.
• Comfort working at a very fast pace, iterating frequently, and shipping improvements continuously.
• Willingness to support production systems and participate in on-call responsibilities.
• Experience with Python for backend services, automation, or AI-powered applications.
• Experience with TypeScript for application logic, services, or full-stack product features.
• Experience integrating large language models into practical applications.
• Experience building AI agents or multi-step workflows that use tools, APIs, and external systems.
• Familiarity with RAG systems and the infrastructure needed to use them in production.
• Experience with or understanding of MCP and tool integrations.
• Experience deploying and operating applications on AWS, GCP, or comparable cloud platforms.
• Familiarity with Cursor, Claude Code, or equivalent AI-assisted development environments.
• Ability to work across application layers and deliver complete product capabilities.
• Understanding of deployment, debugging, reliability, monitoring, and incident response.

Responsibilities

• Own one or more business KPIs and build AI-powered product features to improve measurable outcomes.
• Partner with Sales, Service, Underwriting, and other non-technical teams to identify operational problems and translate them into scalable software solutions.
• Design, build, and deploy agentic AI systems, RAG architectures, MCP integrations, and automation workflows.
• Own solutions across the full stack, from problem discovery and prototyping through implementation, deployment, and ongoing iteration.
• Prototype, ship, test, and improve features at a rapid pace.
• Develop reliable, production-grade AI systems using modern frameworks, APIs, cloud infrastructure, and agent architectures.
• Participate in on-call responsibilities, troubleshoot issues, and maintain the reliability of live production systems.
• Use AI-native development tools such as Cursor and Claude Code to accelerate development and maintain code quality.
• Evaluate work based on impact on operational efficiency, customer experience, revenue, and owned KPIs.
