Software Engineer, Infrastructure

Sodalis, Inc.•Palo Alto, CA
•$185,000 - $215,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Sodalis is hiring an infrastructure engineer to design and build its first on-premises deployment model for its AI pharmacy technology. The role owns decisions about whether the product runs fully on-site, in a hybrid configuration with Sodalis's cloud, or through another architecture. The engineer will adapt existing infrastructure and create the packaging, installation, update, and operational approach needed to run the system in pharmacy environments that Sodalis does not control. The work starts with the AI pharmacy tech product and a committed customer, so the architecture will be developed against a real deployment. Pharmacy environments may have restricted outbound access, legacy hardware, or limited IT access. The engineer will work directly with customer and pharmacy IT teams to understand those constraints, then build a solution that supports different environments and enables remote upgrades, rollbacks, observability, and recovery. The role partners closely with Sodalis's founders and early engineering team.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in infrastructure or platform engineering.
  • Experience adapting an AWS-native stack to run on Kubernetes or a similar platform in environments the engineer's organization does not operate, including stateful services.
  • Experience shipping and maintaining software in environments not controlled by the deploying organization, such as on-premises, customer-hosted, edge, or embedded environments.
  • Experience keeping a fleet of remote installations updated, observable, and recoverable without direct login access.
  • Experience establishing an initial pattern for a startup and comfort working with ambiguity.
  • Willingness to spend time with pharmacy IT teams and understand their constraints firsthand.

Responsibilities

  • Determine how Sodalis's architecture should run in pharmacy environments, including fully on-site, hybrid, or other deployment models.
  • Adapt existing infrastructure and build the packaging and deployment process to install and update Sodalis at each pharmacy.
  • Own deployed installations over time, including upgrades, rollbacks, and remote observability into system health and failures.
  • Work with customers and pharmacy IT teams to understand their environments and constraints, and design for a range of deployment conditions.
  • Partner with the founders and early engineering team on architecture.

Benefits

  • Meaningful early-stage equity
  • Full benefits
