About The Position

As a Software Engineer III, you will lead the design and development of scalable technical solutions by collaborating with cross-functional teams including product management and user experience. You will troubleshoot complex issues, perform root cause analysis, and implement effective resolutions to enhance system performance. This role involves managing projects from requirements gathering through delivery, ensuring code quality, security, and maintainability. You will also provide guidance to engineering peers and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, supporting the successful execution of business objectives through innovative software development and operational excellence. The Sam’s Club Loyalty team designs and delivers systems that engage over 35 million members annually through cashback rewards and intelligent renewal journeys. This technology-focused team applies data-driven experimentation, behavioral economics, and real-time personalization to enhance membership value and satisfaction. Members contribute to innovative solutions that directly impact member lifetime value for a leading retailer. Requirements

  • Proven experience in software design, development, and debugging using object-oriented programming languages and frameworks.
  • Strong technical acumen with expertise in API design, platform development, and iterative delivery methodologies.
  • Ability to analyze and translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable technical solutions.
  • Proficiency in continuous integration and continuous delivery (CI/CD) practices and automation scripting.
  • Experience troubleshooting complex production issues and performing root cause analysis to implement effective solutions.
  • Knowledge of testing strategies, defect management, and quality assurance processes.
  • Capability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and provide technical guidance to peers.
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science, computer engineering, computer information systems, software engineering, or related area and 2 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.
  • 4 years’ experience in software engineering or related area.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define high-level designs and translate requirements into technical solutions.
  • Develop, test, and maintain scalable, secure, and high-quality code following established standards and best practices.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production issues through root cause analysis and implementation of corrective actions.
  • Lead small engineering groups by providing guidance, documentation, and mentorship to ensure timely project delivery.
  • Implement automation scripts and telemetry features to support continuous integration and deployment processes.
  • Monitor application performance and conduct maintenance to ensure reliability and compliance with security policies.
  • Participate in requirement analysis, test case creation, and defect management to support quality assurance efforts.
