Software Engineer II, Backend (Capital Orchestration)

Affirm
•$146,000 - $225,000•Remote

About The Position

Affirm is hiring a Software Engineer II to join its Capital Orchestration team, which provides liquidity by enabling the sale and collateralization of Affirm loan assets. The team builds a robust, extensible platform for on-demand transactions with low operational risk, scaling to billions of dollars in collateral movement each month. This work helps ensure Affirm has funding to originate loans, pay merchants, and grow. The engineer will build a foundational platform for reconciling transactions across systems, partners, and cash movements; develop and integrate data pipelines; and create user experiences that streamline workflows for business counterparts. The role includes developing expertise in the capital systems that power and fund Affirm, contributing to design, code quality, and testing, and collaborating with product managers and business counterparts on systems and processes. With guidance from the team’s tech lead and manager, the engineer will break larger projects into tasks, deliver work in phases, and coordinate with others for timely delivery. The role also supports the product development lifecycle through collaboration with product management, design, and analytics, and supports the operation and availability of team artifacts through metrics, escalation, operational maintenance, and on-call efforts. This is a remote-first position. Most roles can be performed from almost anywhere within the country of employment, though some positions may occasionally require office attendance. New hires are invited to attend in-person onboarding.
