About The Position

Vercel is hiring a Software Engineer, Backend to design, build, and maintain scalable, high-performance systems for user, group, and membership management. The role uses JavaScript and TypeScript, Node.js, SQL and NoSQL cloud-native databases, and AWS, with a focus on security and reliability, including identity synchronization and operating services on call. It is hybrid, with three in-office days per week in San Francisco or New York City.

Requirements

• At least 5 years of relevant engineering experience.
• Proficiency in TypeScript, JavaScript, React, and Node.js, with practical experience developing and improving Node.js applications.
• Experience with SQL and web protocols such as REST, SOAP, XML, and JSON.
• Hands-on experience with security architecture and identity protocols such as LDAP, Active Directory, SAML, SSO, OAuth2, and OpenID Connect.
• Experience with access control models such as RBAC, ABAC, and ReBAC.

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain enterprise services in TypeScript, REST APIs, and JSON for user, group, and membership management.
• Implement identity synchronization and lifecycle management using SCIM and related standards.
• Operate services at high scale, including scheduled on-call rotations.
• Use Infrastructure as Code tools, including Terraform, AWS CloudFormation, and Kubernetes, to deliver scalable, high-availability applications.
• Work with cross-functional and peer teams to deliver large-scale projects with cross-team dependencies.
