About The Position

Yuzu is building foundational software infrastructure for self-funded health plans as a vertically integrated, technology-enabled third-party administrator. Its platform supports the administration of health plans and enables new ways to pay for and access covered healthcare. The company aims to make creating and managing a custom health plan as easy as creating a storefront on Shopify.

As an early employee, you will contribute across the codebase, help shape company culture, and influence product direction from an engineering perspective. You will write TypeScript using modern frameworks such as SvelteKit and NestJS, and design data structures that address the complexities of healthcare. The role is based in Yuzu’s Flatiron, New York City office and requires working in person five days per week.

Yuzu offers significant ownership through equity and autonomy, invests in employee learning, and emphasizes trust and transparency. Compensation is $140,000–$260,000 annual salary plus an equity component commensurate with the role.

Requirements

• Experience building successful software projects, ideally independently, on a small team, or at an early-stage startup.
• Ability to work in person five days per week at the Flatiron NYC office.
• Self-directed, curious, fast-paced working style.
• Strong communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience with TypeScript, CDK, and/or AWS.
• Experience in healthcare or fintech infrastructure.
