About The Position

This opportunity is for current or previous HNTB interns. The Software Engineer I contributes to the design, development, and testing of software solutions under the guidance of more experienced engineers. The role provides hands-on experience with modern development tools and practices, Agile workflows, and collaborative delivery of functional, maintainable code. It focuses on developing foundational technical skills and understanding the software development lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related field, or four years of relevant experience in lieu of education.
• Familiarity with programming languages such as Python, C#, JavaScript, or Java.
• Familiarity with web application frameworks such as React, Angular, Blazor, or .NET.
• Exposure to Agile development and version control tools such as Jira and Git.
• Understanding of cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, or GCP.

Nice To Haves

• Internship or project experience in software development.

Responsibilities

• Write, test, and debug software using modern programming languages and frameworks.
• Collaborate with team members to understand requirements and deliver functional code.
• Participate in Agile ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives.
• Contribute to code reviews and follow established coding standards and practices.
• Learn and apply version control, testing, and documentation best practices.
• Assist in troubleshooting and resolving software defects.
• Continuously develop technical skills through mentorship and hands-on experience.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
