About The Position

We are looking for a Software Engineer I who is passionate, hands-on, and driven to build scalable, high-performing systems. The role requires applying modern software engineering principles to design, develop, and maintain cloud-native solutions across the full stack. The position emphasizes strong React, GraphQL and Python development, API design, cloud-first thinking on AWS, and a commitment to continuous improvement, operational excellence, and collaborative craftsmanship. Our Software Engineers are energetic influencers who thrive on designing simple and scalable solutions to complex problems and delivering leading-edge software products for our customers. As a Software Engineer II you will work in a collaborative team environment that encourages you to perform at your best, contributing to the engineering efforts of one of our scrum teams. You will be challenged to engineer right-sized solutions for complex business problems, applying your knowledge of modern software design, best practices, design patterns, and frameworks. You will work alongside Architects, Developers and technical leads where collaborative programming and mentoring is regularly practiced.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field. The right candidate could also have a different combination, such as 4 years’ experience in a related field.
  • Strong React and Python skills and object-oriented design experience.
  • Experience/knowledge of API development.
  • Experience/knowledge of UI development.
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively and independently to design, develop and deploy solutions; experience designing and implementing applications with highly optimized and scalable architectures.
  • Good understanding of industry development, deployment processes and Agile development methodologies.
  • Good knowledge of AWS Technologies and hands-on experience with designing and implementing on AWS.
  • Knowledgeable of GitHub Actions, Terraform and CI/CD processes.
  • Must currently be authorized to work in the United States for any employer without current or future sponsorship. No OPT, CPT, STEM/OPT or visa sponsorship now or in future.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop and maintain a highly scalable, highly performing and highly available production system.
  • Write readable, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • Design and manage User Interfaces based on React.
  • Construct and manage services published to both internal and external consumers.
  • Leverage tools and processes used in software continuous delivery.
  • Design and implementation of APIs, services, system tasks and cloud solutions.
  • Quickly understand existing complicated systems and enhance performance and reliability of current solutions.
  • Evangelize new ideas within your team as well as across teams.
  • Maintain Cox Automotive's position as an industry leader by exploring new technologies, languages, and techniques in the rapidly evolving world of high-volume data processing.
  • Maintain schemas in databases and write efficient SQL.
  • Collaborate with product owner and team members to solve business problems.
  • Live by Agile (particularly Scrum) principles — including test-driven development, code reviews, and retrospectives.
  • Ensure all documentation and knowledge bases are updated to help ensure good collaboration within and outside the group.
  • Work with team members to understand their delivery process to best design Enterprise solutions that meet organizational needs.
  • Participate in Team on-call rotation.
