As a Full Stack or Backend Software Engineer at Cisco, you will build the technology that powers global connectivity. Requirements

  • A Bachelor's degree with 0 years of work experience; or
  • An educational or workforce development program (e.g., Associate’s, Apprenticeship, Boot camp, or Certification) with 1 year of work experience; or
  • High school diploma (or equivalent) with 2 years of work experience.
  • Qualifying education and work experience should be in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, Information Technology or a related field.
  • Foundational understanding and practical coding proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, Java, Go, C/C++, or JavaScript / TypeScript, with solid knowledge of data structures, algorithms, and Object-Oriented Programming (OOP) principles.
  • Understanding of full stack software engineering fundamentals, including RESTful APIs, web development principles (HTML, CSS, JavaScript/React), and relational or NoSQL databases.
  • Familiarity with standard software development workflows in Linux environments and Git version control.

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated experience or coursework in building modern, responsive user interfaces and single-page applications using React, TypeScript, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS, with a solid grasp of core UI/UX principles.
  • Practical experience in designing and developing scalable distributed backend services, RESTful APIs, or microservices architectures using languages such as Go, Python, Java, or C/C++.
  • Hands-on exposure to containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes), public cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, or GCP), and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform, Ansible, or CloudFormation).
  • Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines, test automation, cloud security, and networking fundamentals (L2/L3, TCP/IP), combined with a proactive approach to using AI developer tools to enhance productivity and solve complex problems in Agile environments.
