Software Engineer, Destinations

As an Engineer on the Destinations team at Airbyte, you will play a crucial role in developing and improving the connectors that deliver customer data to databases and data warehouses. Your responsibilities will include defining the framework for data interaction and storage, ensuring reliability and efficiency, and leveraging warehouse-specific features. You will also contribute to the development of tools for community empowerment and mentor junior engineers. Expert knowledge of cloud data warehouses, advanced SQL skills, and a passion for continuous learning are essential for this role. The position is based in San Francisco with a hybrid work schedule.

• Drive step function improvements in warehouse connectors performance & reliability
• Build leverage: a week-long task this year should take ten minutes next year
• Pioneer the creation of new patterns, tools, and frameworks for building database and data warehouse connectors
• Help shape the Destination Connectors team roadmap
• Improve engineering processes and documentation
• Design how Airbyte should present data in destinations to meet warehousing best practices
• Write high-leverage code
• Mentor junior engineers
• Expert knowledge of multiple cloud data warehouses like Snowflake or BigQuery
• Advanced SQL skills
• Experience in profiling and optimizing high-performance applications
• 6+ years of software engineering experience
• Ability to influence without authority and work with engineers junior and senior
• A passion for continuous learning and improvement (both at a personal and team level)
