About the position
The job overview for this role is that Clear Street is seeking an experienced Software Engineer to join their Controls Engineering team. The main responsibility of this role is to automate Compliance & Finance regulatory processes by creating solutions that process large amounts of data from the data warehouse to generate clean and correct reporting. The Software Engineer will collaborate with key stakeholders across Compliance, Finance, and Treasury teams to understand regulatory and financial obligations and translate them into scalable solutions. Additionally, the role involves mentoring teammates, evolving technical standards, and contributing to the firm's operational excellence.
Responsibilities
- Automating Compliance & Finance regulatory processes
- Processing large amounts of data from the data warehouse to generate clean, correct reporting
- Building out reconciliations
- Partnering with key stakeholders to understand regulatory/financial obligations and business requirements
- Translating requirements into clean designs and scalable solutions
- Mentoring teammates and evolving technical standards and best practices
- Ensuring financial and regulatory obligations are met in a timely fashion
- Leveraging innovative technology to create automated solutions for workflows
- Making a significant contribution to the firm as a whole
- Designing and architecting systems that deliver solutions to complex data problems (bonus qualification)
Requirements
- 4+ years of software design and development experience including CI/CD, source code control, testing, and quality management
- Highly proficient in Python, SQL, database design, and experience working with data warehouses like Snowflake to generate complex solutions at scale
- Self-starter with a sense of urgency and eagerness to learn and explore new technologies
- Strong communicator who can interact with non-technical business stakeholders, product managers, and engineers
- Ability to troubleshoot and logically assess problems and determine solutions
- Bonus: Experience working in the post-trade automation space designing and architecting systems that deliver solutions to complex data problems
