About The Position

This role involves developing software for embedded devices and systems, from initial requirements through production and ongoing support. The Software Engineer will collaborate closely with cross-functional team members to define operational performance requirements, integrate software and hardware components, and contribute to overall system design. The position requires active participation in all phases of the software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, design, implementation, integration, and formal testing. Responsibilities also include contributing to software test plans, procedures, and technical documentation, as well as participating in peer reviews, defect identification, tracking, and resolution. The engineer will work with a cross-functional team including systems, test, and program leadership, utilizing various software languages and tools on Windows, Linux, and embedded real-time operating systems. Additionally, the role involves supporting software bids and proposal inputs for customer and government requests for proposals. Travel is minimal.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 2+ years of prior related experience. Graduate Degree or equivalent with 0 to 2+ years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 6+ years of prior related experience.
  • Experience with Windows, Linux, and embedded real-time operating systems.
  • Experience with hands-on software development and troubleshooting on embedded targets.
  • Experience in embedded systems design.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders.
  • Ability to collaborate across engineering disciplines and contribute to complex technical efforts.

Nice To Haves

  • Proficiency with C++.
  • Experience working with Department of Defense programs.
  • Experience with object-oriented software development using C++.
  • Experience with embedded real-time software development in Linux.
  • Experience with high-performance and multi-threaded programming.
  • Demonstrated depth of knowledge in programming languages, compilers, and application execution.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. security clearance.
  • Working knowledge of signal processing, control systems, electronic warfare, or networking.
  • Knowledge of protocols such as IP, UDP, TCP, and Protobufs.
  • Solid presentation and technical writing skills.
