Software Engineer - Backend
About The Position
HappyRobot is hiring a Backend Software Engineer to own meaningful parts of its product and infrastructure end-to-end. The role focuses on building and operating scalable backend systems and real-time infrastructure for voice-based AI workflows. The engineer will improve reliability, performance, and observability, collaborate closely with frontend engineers, product, and founders, and frequently ship and iterate based on customer needs and system behavior. The company seeks a builder who is comfortable with ambiguity, values craftsmanship, and wants substantial ownership.
Requirements
- At least 2 years of professional experience.
- Strong backend engineering experience, with a focus on building scalable systems.
- Experience with Go or a strong willingness to work with Go in production.
- Solid understanding of system design, APIs, data modeling, and service reliability.
- Product-oriented mindset and comfort making tradeoffs in a fast-moving environment.
- Experience operating and maintaining production services.
