About The Position

Fiserv is hiring a Software Development Engineering - Advisor II to support the SnapPay modernization program. The role designs and delivers cloud-native services and APIs for critical payment capabilities, working across product, architecture, engineering, QA, security, and infrastructure teams to translate business capabilities into specifications and production-ready solutions. The engineer uses AI-assisted and specification-driven development practices while upholding architecture, security, testing, and engineering quality standards. The position is on-site Monday through Friday and is a full-time, direct-hire role. Candidates must currently have valid, unrestricted U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is not available. The role cannot be performed in Colorado, California, the District of Columbia, Hawaii, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Minnesota, New Jersey, New York, Nevada, Rhode Island, Vermont, Virginia, Maine, or Washington. Employment offers are contingent on standard background checks, and additional government-contract-related background checks may apply if the position supports such a contract.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional software development experience, including designing and delivering enterprise-grade applications.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on C#/.NET development experience, preferably building APIs, microservices, or distributed backend services.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application development.
  • Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservice-based architectures.
  • Strong experience with SQL and relational database design, transactional processing, query optimization, and data-access patterns.
  • Experience with distributed application concepts, including idempotency, retries, resiliency, caching, asynchronous processing, and eventual consistency.
  • Experience with messaging or event-driven architectures using Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, Kafka, or equivalent.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, source control, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted software engineering tools in day-to-day development, including code generation, refactoring, test generation, code analysis, documentation, and problem solving.
  • Experience with specification-driven development, translating requirements into structured specifications and using them to guide software design, implementation, and validation.
  • Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated software rather than relying on generated output without appropriate engineering oversight.
  • Experience implementing application security, authentication, and authorization in enterprise applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting production applications using logs, metrics, distributed tracing, and observability tooling.
  • Experience working within Agile engineering teams and collaborating across product, architecture, QA, security, and infrastructure functions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or foreign equivalent degree), or equivalent work experience.
  • Must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization; candidates requiring sponsorship now or in the future are not considered.
  • Must work on-site Monday through Friday.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or modernizing payment processing, financial services, fintech, or high-volume transactional platforms.
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, or comparable observability platforms.
  • Experience modernizing legacy payment applications into cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of cloud-native services, APIs, and payment capabilities.
  • Design and implement scalable, highly available, resilient, and secure microservices using C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop REST APIs and domain-aligned services using sound API design and Domain-Driven Design principles.
  • Translate business requirements into structured functional and technical specifications that guide implementation and testing.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools across requirements analysis, solution design, code generation, refactoring, code review, test generation, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Review and improve AI-generated code and technical artifacts to ensure they meet architecture, security, performance, maintainability, and engineering standards.
  • Build payment solutions covering transaction processing, idempotency, retries, error handling, asynchronous processing, and cross-domain event communication.
  • Design and implement data-access patterns using technologies such as Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Redis.
  • Develop event-driven integrations using technologies such as Azure Service Bus and Azure Event Hubs.
  • Implement application security patterns, including token-based authentication, authorization, secure service-to-service communication, and secrets management.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, API, and component tests, including appropriate validation of AI-assisted test generation.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, engineering, QA, security, and infrastructure teams.
