Software Development Engineering - Advisor II

Fiserv•Alpharetta, GA
•Onsite

About The Position

Fiserv is modernizing its SnapPay payment platforms to deliver modern, scalable, resilient, and secure digital payment experiences. The Software Development Engineering - Advisor II will play a key technical role by designing and delivering cloud-native services and APIs that support critical payment capabilities. The role collaborates with product, architecture, engineering, QA, security, and infrastructure teams to turn business capabilities into defined specifications and production-ready solutions. It uses AI-assisted software development and specification-driven practices to accelerate delivery while maintaining architecture, security, testing, and engineering quality standards. The position is on-site Monday through Friday and is a full-time, direct-hire role. Candidates must already have valid, unrestricted U.S. work authorization; sponsorship is not available.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of professional software development experience, including designing and delivering enterprise-grade applications.
  • At least 4 years of hands-on C#/.NET development experience, preferably building APIs, microservices, or distributed backend services.
  • At least 3 years of experience with Microsoft Azure and cloud-native application development.
  • Strong experience designing and developing RESTful APIs and microservice-based architectures.
  • Strong experience with SQL and relational database design, transactional processing, query optimization, and data-access patterns.
  • Experience with distributed application concepts such as idempotency, retries, resiliency, caching, asynchronous processing, and eventual consistency.
  • Experience with messaging or event-driven architectures using Azure Service Bus, Event Hubs, Kafka, or equivalent.
  • Experience with CI/CD, automated testing, source control, and modern DevOps practices.
  • Hands-on experience using AI-assisted software engineering tools in day-to-day development, including code generation, refactoring, test generation, code analysis, documentation, and problem solving.
  • Experience with specification-driven development, including translating requirements into structured specifications and using them to guide software design, implementation, and validation.
  • Ability to critically review and validate AI-generated software rather than relying on generated output without appropriate engineering oversight.
  • Experience implementing application security, authentication, and authorization in enterprise applications.
  • Experience troubleshooting production applications using logs, metrics, distributed tracing, and observability tooling.
  • Experience working in Agile engineering teams and collaborating across product, architecture, QA, security, and infrastructure functions.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Information Systems, or a related field (or foreign equivalent degree), or equivalent work experience.
  • Must currently possess valid and unrestricted U.S. work authorization; candidates requiring sponsorship now or in the future will not be considered.
  • Must be able to work on-site Monday through Friday.
  • Employment is contingent on standard background checks; additional government-contract-related checks may apply if the position supports such a contract.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building or modernizing payment processing, financial services, fintech, or high-volume transactional platforms.
  • Experience with OpenTelemetry, Dynatrace, or comparable observability platforms.
  • Experience modernizing legacy payment applications into cloud-native architectures.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of cloud-native services, APIs, and payment capabilities.
  • Design and implement scalable, highly available, resilient, and secure microservices using C#/.NET and Microsoft Azure.
  • Develop REST APIs and domain-aligned services using API design and Domain-Driven Design principles.
  • Translate business requirements into structured functional and technical specifications that guide implementation and testing.
  • Use AI-assisted engineering tools across the software development lifecycle for requirements analysis, design, code generation, refactoring, code review, test generation, documentation, and troubleshooting.
  • Review, validate, and improve AI-generated code and technical artifacts to ensure they meet architecture, security, performance, maintainability, and engineering standards.
  • Build payment solutions for transaction processing, idempotency, retries, error handling, asynchronous processing, and cross-domain event communication.
  • Design and implement data-access patterns using technologies such as Azure SQL, Cosmos DB, and Redis.
  • Develop event-driven integrations using technologies such as Azure Service Bus and Azure Event Hubs.
  • Implement application security patterns, including token-based authentication, authorization, secure service-to-service communication, and secrets management.
  • Develop automated unit, integration, API, and component tests, including appropriate use and validation of AI-assisted test generation.
  • Collaborate with product, architecture, engineering, QA, security, and infrastructure teams.
