Software Development Engineer in Test
About The Position
The Software Development Engineer in Test designs and develops system test automation scripts using tools such as Selenium, Protractor, Jasmine, Cucumber, or equivalent technologies. The role supports automation solution planning and estimation, assesses existing architectures and test platforms, and develops strategies for their growth. It involves designing tests for automation platforms and distributed-system integrations, collaborating with business analysts and developers to elaborate requirements for Acceptance Test Driven Development, and implementing automated test scenarios, test cases, test data strategies, and reports. The engineer also improves existing automation frameworks for speed, flexibility, and usability, including using parallel processing or grid systems, and establishes metrics to assess product and testing quality and provide feedback to engineers.
Requirements
- Must be a U.S. citizen for DHS Suitability clearance.
- Bachelor of Science degree.
- At least 5 years of experience in manual functional and regression testing and preparing relevant test cases.
- At least 5 years of demonstrated experience with one or more of the following testing toolsets or frameworks: Selenium Grid/WebDriver, Protractor/Jasmine, Cucumber/Gherkin, JUnit, TestNG, or GitHub/Bitbucket.
- Strong programming and scripting experience and a passion for testing.
- At least 9 years of test automation experience, including planning, assessments, script development, and maintenance; cloud-environment experience is preferred.
- Experience working with databases, data formats, and related technologies for testing.
- Experience with Agile and Scrum development methodologies.
- Experience testing UI/UX best practices and Section 508 compliance.
- Knowledge of management tools such as JIRA Platform, Serena Business Manager, and/or HP Quality Center (QC).
- Strong written and communication skills.

Responsibilities
- Design and develop system test automation scripts using Selenium, Protractor, Jasmine, Cucumber, or equivalent tools.
- Support test automation solution planning and estimation.
- Analyze current architecture and test platforms to formulate a vision for growth and expansion.
- Perform detailed test design using sound software test engineering principles for automation platforms and integrations across distributed systems.
- Collaborate with business analysts and developers to elaborate requirements for Acceptance Test Driven Development (ATDD).
- Review acceptance criteria, including Gherkin scripts, and create integration and regression test scenarios and test cases.
- Implement test data management strategies and generate required reports.
- Improve existing test automation frameworks to make them faster, more flexible, and easier to use.
- Use parallel processing or grid systems to speed up tests.
- Define and establish metrics for product quality, testing quality, and feedback to engineers.
