About The Position

ThinkOn is expanding its Software Development team and is seeking an Intermediate Software Developer I. The role involves designing, writing, and maintaining code to add functionality to ThinkOn's codebase, with a primary focus on back-end systems. This is a remote-first position, and applications are welcomed from candidates in Canada. ThinkOn is reviewing applications on a rolling basis.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, or other related degree from a recognized institution, or the equivalent work experience.
• Proven experience (2-4 years) in software development, preferably in a professional setting.
• Strong understanding of Object-Oriented Programming.
• Proficiency in Java.
• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., Git) and agile development methodologies.
• Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively present and explain design concepts to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• Strong fundamentals with relational database systems.
• Competency to participate in a coding challenge.
• Experience with unit test tools and libraries like Junit and Mockito.
• Comfortable working on REST API.

Nice To Haves

• Knowing front-end frameworks (e.g., React) is a plus, but not required.

Responsibilities

• Participate in scrums.
• Write production-ready code that is well-tested.
• Actively participate in the design and development of product ideas, concepts, prototypes, and proofs of concept.
• Participate in agile development processes, providing insights and collaborating on sprint planning, backlog grooming, and daily stand-ups.
• Effectively communicate design concepts, rationale, and technical requirements to team members and stakeholders.
• Contribute to design and code reviews to ensure adherence to quality standards and best practices.
