About The Position

DataRobot is hiring a Software Design Engineer Intern to contribute to its developer-facing documentation platform. Working with Documentation and Engineering teams, the intern will improve documentation tooling, build CI/CD automation, and explore AI tools for maintaining documentation freshness and accuracy. Projects may include pull request checks, content validation pipelines, and release workflows that reduce manual work and keep documentation aligned with product changes. This is a fully remote, approximately six-month program open to recent college graduates and early-career engineers. Interns are embedded in teams, paired with dedicated mentors, and expected to deliver practical engineering work. The program includes onboarding and guided tickets in Month 1, scoped project delivery with ongoing guidance during Months 2–5, and refinement, handoff documentation, and an Intern Showcase in Month 6.

  • Basic exposure to or enthusiasm for CI/CD concepts such as GitHub Actions and web or documentation formats such as Markdown, HTML/CSS, or JavaScript/TypeScript.
  • Curiosity and eagerness to experiment with LLM APIs for developer productivity.
  • Strong written communication skills and an organized, problem-solving mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Develop lightweight GitHub Actions and pull request checks to streamline documentation reviews, run linters, and validate content changes against code updates.
  • Create CI tests to execute documentation code examples and notebooks and detect breaking changes.
  • Assist in building scripts and tools to convert, generate, or publish documentation artifacts, including Markdown/MDX pipelines, changelogs, and release summaries derived from Jira or pull request data.
  • Explore LLMs and agentic scripts for documentation site health tasks, such as identifying stale screenshots and improving indexing and retrieval for AI assistants.
  • Collaborate with a mentor and documentation engineers, communicate progress in weekly syncs, and present accomplishments at the end-of-internship Showcase.
  • Learn the platform, toolchains, and repositories; co-create an Individual Learning Plan with a mentor and complete guided tickets.
