The J35 Special Operations Forces (SOF) Future Operations Planner will serve as a regional SOF irregular warfare (IW) and unconventional warfare (UW) operational planner with a primary focus on Future Operations. This role involves conducting and providing quality control of deliberate, crisis action, and contingency planning, as well as IW/UW functional plan development and validation. The planner will coordinate and integrate with higher headquarters, components, DoD, USG Interagency, Partner Nations, and others. Responsibilities include reviewing and providing coordinated input to strategic and operational plans, orders, analysis reports, policy reports, requests for forces, and DoD directives. The position requires providing expertise on IW, UW, and intelligence doctrine, operations, policy, and authorities, and integrating lessons learned to support senior leader decision-making. The planner will also conduct and consolidate foreign partner nation representative coordination and planning to develop foreign partner nation capability and capacity. Additionally, the role involves conducting and validating research and analysis, preparing information papers, decision papers, and briefings for command leadership, and analyzing SOF unity of effort activities to support integration and synchronization. Collaboration with Military Services to improve integration and interoperability between SOF and conventional forces is also a key aspect. The planner will provide SOF support and expertise through all phases of planning and project development, prepare briefs and presentations using Microsoft Office, and develop and maintain an electronic resource for mission continuity. Travel CONUS/OCONUS may be required.
