About The Position

The Social Worker uses professional skills to assist and provide interventions aimed at assisting clients and families cope with health related issues. Under the direction of the Director of Acute Care - Southwest the incumbent will support Program Managers to ensuring the goals and needs of the client are met in keeping with the mission, vision and values of the SHA. Preference for this position will be given to HSAS members in accordance with the terms and conditions of the SAHO/HSAS Collective Agreement. Requirements

  • Bachelor of Social Work (BSW)
  • Basic - Conflict resolution skills
  • Advanced - Communication skills
  • Advanced - Time management skills
  • Advanced - Organizational skills
  • Basic - Computer skills
  • Knowledge of community resources including treatment programs & support agencies
  • Ability to network and collaborate with internal and external resources/agencies
  • Knowledge of psychopathology and the family life cycle and systems theory.
  • Ability to recognize and maintain confidential information
  • Ability to formulate evidence based intervention.
  • Ability to respond under pressure.
  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a multi-disciplinary team
  • Knowledge of human growth, development and human behavior.
  • Ability to prioritize work
  • The ability to conduct needs assessments & develop & deliver presentations.
  • Knowledge in medical terminology
  • Ability to identify, implement and evaluate areas of client difficulty.
  • Ability to be self motivated
  • Ability to work in a cross cultural setting
  • Ability to enter and retrieve data in computer database systems
  • Registered/eligible with the Saskatchewan Association of Social Workers (SASW)

Nice To Haves

  • Clinical Experience in mental health setting
  • Experience in medical social work
