About The Position

The City of Tshwane’s Department of Community and Social Development Services is seeking four Social Workers for the Indigent Programme Management and Regional Coordination section of the Social Development and Strategic Interest Group. Positions are located across all regions.

The purpose of the role is to provide communities in Tshwane with comprehensive, professional and developmental social work services sustainably, using best-practice models and benchmarking. The role includes counselling and therapeutic work with clients, community development, crisis intervention, programme coordination and administration.

Requirements

• Bachelor of Social Work degree.
• Registration with the South African Council of Social Service Professions.
• At least three years’ relevant working experience in a social work environment.
• Valid Code B driving licence.
• Computer literacy.
• Must undergo a criminal record check and allow fingerprints to be taken by the Tshwane Metro Police Department at the applicant’s own cost.

• Knowledge of SAP.

Responsibilities

• Render counselling and therapeutic services to clients with social problems.
• Render sustainable developmental services.
• Identify community needs and organise focus groups around those needs, including groups for orphaned children, abused women, teenage pregnancy and poverty-stricken families.
• Link community focus groups with relevant resources.
• Provide relevant information to community focus groups through workshops, seminars, campaigns and conferences.
• Coordinate and facilitate projects and programmes that address community focus group needs.
• Provide crisis intervention.
• Render administrative services.
