Requirements
- Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or Forensic Social Worker 1 (Commonwealth job titles or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration) (must have been employed in a commonwealth social worker job title on September 8, 2008, with continuous commonwealth employment); or Two years of experience as a Social Worker 1 or a Forensic Social Worker 1 and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or Two years of professional experience providing direct public or private social work services, and a bachelor’s degree in social work or social welfare; or A master's degree in social work or social welfare.
- Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
- Must obtain Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) certification within two months of hire and maintain it for the duration of employment in the job.
- Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
- Must meet the PA residency requirement.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
Nice To Haves
- Additional pay will be considered for those who currently possess or obtain licensure as a Social Worker, Clinical Social Worker, or Professional Counselor issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Social Workers, Marriage and Family Therapist and Professional Counselors.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate social service programs with agency staff and community organizations
- Maintain records and reports needed to manage inmate caseloads and support case planning
- Assist inmates with parole planning, reentry services, and community placement processes
- Provide follow-up services to community-placed inmates to ensure continuity of care
- Apply federal, state, departmental, and facility regulations in all daily social work tasks
- Investigate complaints or allegations of human rights violations and verify needed information
