Requirements

• Graduation from an approved school of dentistry. Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within three months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
• Possess a license to practice dentistry issued by the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry.
• Successful completion of basic training in Elizabethtown, PA is required.
• Must be able to perform essential job functions.
• Must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.

Responsibilities

• Conduct periodontal exams, diagnose oral conditions, and provide restorative and preventative treatments
• Explain medical histories, care instructions, and treatment plans to inmate patients
• Direct the work of dental assistants and hygienists, offer training, and evaluate performance
• Examine schedules, records, laboratory results, and grievances to maintain standards and improve quality
• Manage inventory, approve new supply needs, and maintain proper security and tool control
• Carry out additional assigned responsibilities as needed
