About The Position

Teachers of social studies at Catholic Central High School are student-centered, growth-minded professionals who inspire students to think critically about history, government, economics, geography, culture, and civic responsibility. They help students develop strong analytical, communication, and research skills while fostering intellectual curiosity, ethical leadership, and an understanding of their role as informed and engaged citizens. Through engaging instruction and meaningful discussion, social studies teachers cultivate virtues of wisdom, justice, compassion, and integrity that prepare students to contribute positively to society and live out their God-given vocation.

Requirements

  • Hold a degree in and teaching certification in Social Studies (RX preferred).
  • Exhibit a strong interest in and concern for quality teaching, ideally with previous teaching experience.
  • Demonstrate an ability and commitment to furthering the Catholic mission and identity of the school.

Nice To Haves

  • Hold additional certification(s) preferred (Government, Economics, Psychology)/AP experience preferred.
  • Practicing Catholic preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Work as a servant leader of the Catholic faith and uphold values in word and action.
  • Actively participate in staff meetings, professional development, and other schoolwide opportunities.
  • Be flexible in scheduling and responsive to student and school needs.
  • Implement curricula in collaboration with fellow team members.
  • Collaborate with teammates to improve student learning and growth.
  • Strive to improve curriculum for the benefit of all students.
  • Adapt lessons to reach all learners.
  • Develop and administer a balance of traditional and authentic assessments that evaluate content knowledge and critical thinking skills.
  • Employ technology as a learning tool.
  • Maintain classroom decorum, encouraging thoughtful discussion, civil discourse, and active student participation.
  • Provide support both in the classroom setting and during established office hours.
  • Contribute to the school community outside of the classroom.
