About The Position

The Social Services Coordinator is primarily responsible for successful coordination of the agency’s Respite Program, which provides parents of children with special needs a brief break from child care through our experienced per diem staff. The Social Services Coordinator conducts initial assessments and provides ongoing support to program parents as needed, client chart management, and tracks and reports program outcomes and data. The Social Services Coordinator is responsible for assisting the Administrator with support of the program’s direct care staff including hiring, orientation, and ongoing supervision. This person also works with the Social Services Administrator to plan and execute ongoing projects, events, and activities within the Respite and Social Services department. Requirements

  • Minimum Bachelor’s in Social Work, Non-Profit Management or related field.
  • One to two years social work experience if BA is in unrelated field.
  • Strong assessment and documentation skills.
  • Strong management and communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and email/phone etiquette with families and staff.
  • Ability to multi-task and to work effectively as a team member and in time sensitive situations.
  • Self-starter with initiative and creativity to develop new ways to meet client and program needs.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • A Confidentiality Agreement is required and must be signed upon commencement of service
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume.
  • Valid Florida Driver's License
  • HIV Course

Nice To Haves

  • Masters in Social Work or related field preferred.
  • Bilingual a plus.
  • Previously worked in Healthcare Facility, Medical background, or Non Profit
  • Experience with handicapped population, Pediatric experience preferred and knowledge of local resources a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Conducting psychosocial assessments and program intakes along with the Social Services Administrator for clients of the respite program.
  • Gather and track client data for programmatic outcomes and ensure that client charts are thoroughly documented
  • Ensure that client paperwork is updated regularly and in compliance
  • Regularly communicate with program clients to ensure program satisfaction, address challenges, collect data, inform of policies or updates, and provide support and referrals as needed
  • Assist Social Services Administrator with direct care staff management including interview and hire process, providing orientation and guidance, reviews, and coaching and disciplinary action when needed.
  • Assist the Service Specialist with scheduling and coordinating staff for in-home visits as well as multiple center based locations as needed.
  • Assist with any community inquiries on all agency services, client referrals to community resources, and represent the program at occasional community events and/or presentations
  • Coverage of emergency program cell every other week
  • Plan and execute monthly Social & Activity Group for program
  • Assisting the Social Services Administrator with social service related programs and events such, nutrition education classes, parent groups, and social work team meetings
  • Assist with supervision, task management and instruction of social work interns
  • Other duties as assigned
