About The Position

This position will provide support to our Community Services programs. The successful candidate will help enhance the dignity and quality of life of our clients, visitors and co-workers by providing efficient, courteous and quality services. This role will allow for opportunities for case shadowing, support with delivery of programming and events, as well other duties that may be assigned by the manager. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to the mission values of availability, flexibility adaptability hospitality and dignity with sensitivity to the issues related to poverty, homelessness, mental illness, addictions and developmental disabilities. Observe all health and safety rules and work in compliance with the provisions of the occupational Health and Safety Act and its regulations.

Requirements

  • Current enrolment in a post-secondary program in Social Work, Social Services, or related field in a recognized University/College.
  • Strong computer and literacy skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidential records, manage data, and prepare correspondence and reports in a timely and precise manner.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent communication, team building, negotiating, and problem-solving skills.
  • Meet all of the guidelines set out by the Government for the Canadian Summer Jobs Program.
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number at the start of employment.
  • Be legally entitled to work according to the relevant provincial or territorial legislation and regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working or assisting in public relations or outreach.
  • Fluency in French and/or a language in addition to English.
