About The Position

Strive Centre Kelowna is seeking a motivated and community-minded Program Assistant through the Canada Summer Jobs Program. This opportunity is ideal for youth interested in gaining experience in community services, recreation programming, administration, and non-profit operations. This role combines administrative support with involvement in recreation programming, events, and participant engagement within the centre. This role provides valuable hands-on learning opportunities in administration, recreation programming, communication, and community support within a non-profit setting. The successful candidate will support daily program and administrative operations while contributing to a welcoming, inclusive, and engaging environment for adults with diverse abilities.

Requirements

  • Be between 18 and 30 years of age at the beginning of employment
  • Be legally entitled to work in Canada in accordance with relevant provincial and federal legislation and regulations
  • Have a valid Social Insurance Number (SIN) and be legally permitted to work in Canada
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Comfortable using computers, email, and Microsoft Office applications
  • Organized, dependable, and able to multitask in a fast-paced environment
  • Positive attitude and willingness to learn

Nice To Haves

  • Interest in community living, recreation, social services, or administration considered an asset
  • Experience supporting individuals with diverse abilities is considered an asset, but not required

Responsibilities

  • Welcome participants and visitors while supporting front desk operations
  • Answer phones, respond to general inquiries, and assist with scheduling support
  • Assist with data entry, attendance tracking, filing, and organizing documentation
  • Prepare program materials, orientation packages, activity supplies, and resource boards
  • Support staff with recreational activities, events, and community outings
  • Assist with participant engagement and day-to-day activities within the centre
  • Support supervisors and program staff with small operational and administrative projects
  • Contribute to maintaining a positive, organized, and inclusive environment
