About The Position

This position is responsible for social media management for UF Innovate, Tech Licensing, Ventures, Accelerate, and Pathways. The Social Media Specialist will research, design, and implement platform-specific social media strategies aligned with UF Innovate branding and goals. This includes maintaining a social media calendar, and hiring, training, and overseeing social media interns who produce content for all UF Innovate accounts. The role involves monitoring and analyzing social media marketing efforts, tracking metrics, preparing detailed reports on key performance indicators, and revising strategy as needed in consultation with the Marketing & Communications Manager and the Assistant Director, Communications. The specialist will also check comments, direct messages, tags, and other notifications, responding directly when necessary and escalating issues to relevant UF Innovate personnel. Engagement with other UF accounts to amplify messages is also a key responsibility. The role involves scanning news and social sources for relevant content ideas, determining newsworthiness, and suggesting content to elevate the brand and support marketing objectives. Content development includes creating monthly newsletters and multimedia assets for events, and implementing strategies to engage target audiences. This position will collaborate with SCAD Media and TV20 to produce weekly Tech Tuesday episodes. Partnership development involves collaborating with internal and external stakeholders, including Tech Licensing, Ventures, Accelerate, and Pathways leaders, SCAD Media, and other professionals to provide excellent customer service, communicate events and deadlines, leverage cross-promotion, and enhance social and other media efforts. The role also includes identifying and designing assessment tools to monitor progress toward social media goals and key performance indicators. Additional duties include serving on event committees, providing photography and media coverage of events outside of work hours, collaborating on special projects, hiring/training/supervising interns, and assisting with tabling and other events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and two years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and appropriate experience.

Responsibilities

  • Researching, designing, and implementing platform-specific social media strategies in alignment with UF Innovate branding guidelines and goals.
  • Maintaining a social media calendar.
  • Hiring, training, and overseeing social media interns who produce content for all UF Innovate accounts.
  • Tracking social media metrics to evaluate campaign performance and preparing detailed reports to monitor key performance indicators, such as engagement rates, reach, and conversion metrics.
  • Conferring with the Marketing & Communications Manager and the Assistant Director, Communications, to revise strategy as needed based on campaign results.
  • Presenting an analytics report and enlisting the engagement of colleagues in the full staff meeting.
  • Daily checks comments, direct messages, tags, and all similar notifications.
  • Responding directly in a timely manner when necessary and notifying others at UF Innovate to help solve problems if/when they arise.
  • Regularly engaging with other UF accounts to amplify messages.
  • Scanning various news and social sources to stay abreast of headlines and trends relating to UF Innovate, its entities or people, and related startups, inventors, and technologies.
  • Determining what is newsworthy or valuable and suggesting content for Tech Licensing, Ventures, Accelerate, Pathways, or the overarching Innovate umbrella to elevate the brand and support marketing objectives.
  • Developing compelling content such as monthly newsletters, multimedia assets for events, and implementing strategies to engage target audiences.
  • Working with SCAD Media and TV20 to produce weekly Tech Tuesday episodes.
  • Collaborating with internal and external stakeholders to build partnerships with Tech Licensing, Ventures, Accelerate, and Pathways leaders, SCAD Media, and other professionals to provide excellent customer service and communicate upcoming events and deadlines, leverage cross-promotion opportunities, and enhance social and other media efforts.
  • Identifying and designing assessment tools to monitor progress toward social media goals and key performance indicators.
  • Serving on event committees (such as Standing InnOvation, an annual event honoring innovators).
  • Providing photography and media coverage of events outside of work hours (such as Innovation Hours).
  • Collaborating on special projects.
  • Assisting in UF Innovate’s efforts at tabling and other events.
