About The Position

Great Basin College is seeking a Social Media Specialist to support student-centered marketing efforts through strategic social media management, content creation, and digital engagement. This position plays a key role in strengthening brand awareness, supporting enrollment initiatives, and promoting programs and events across GBC’s service area.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree and two years of relevant experience; OR High school diploma/equivalent and six years of relevant experience; OR A combination of education and experience totaling six years
  • Valid driver’s license

Nice To Haves

  • Experience managing organizational social media accounts
  • Proficiency with social media platforms, scheduling, and analytics tools
  • Experience with tools such as Meta Business Suite, Hootsuite, Canva, or Adobe Creative Suite
  • Basic photography, videography, and video editing skills
  • Experience in higher education, marketing, or communications

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement social media strategies aligned with marketing and enrollment goals
  • Create, schedule, and publish engaging written and visual content across platforms
  • Maintain a content calendar and ensure consistent messaging
  • Monitor and respond to social media engagement, including comments and messages
  • Track performance metrics and provide recommendations for improvement
  • Collaborate with campus departments to promote programs and events
  • Attend and cover events across campuses, including capturing photo and video content
  • Supervise and support student employees assisting with social media efforts
  • Manage digital assets and stay current on trends and tools
