About The Position

This role is for a Social Media Specialist who is a proven social media dynamo that gets results. The ideal candidate understands the big picture and has the strategies to bring it to life across multiple platforms. Experience in corporate environments is essential, and creative flair combined with a keen understanding of social channels and trends makes for a natural strategist. The role involves planning, execution, boosting engagement, and protecting the brand. The specialist will inspire and grow the social audience through knowledge, confidence, and expert communication skills.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Digital Media or related field.
  • At least 6 years’ experience in social media management that includes work in a corporate environment.
  • Demonstrated success in creating and executing social media strategies across platforms.
  • Advanced knowledge of social media analytics and tools.
  • Familiarity with SEO, content marketing, and digital PR strategies.
  • Candidates are requested to include a cover letter to provide insight into writing skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience leading large-scale social campaigns.
  • Familiarity with Hootsuite and Google Analytics.
  • Experience with AI-powered tools like ChatGPT, Copilot, and similar platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the director, Corporate Communications.
  • Work closely with your social counterpart in Marketing to lead strategic planning for AMA’s social media, ensuring alignment with corporate goals and project-specific objectives.
  • Create engaging, high-quality content that adheres to AMA’s brand voice while keeping up with trends and best practices in the social space.
  • Monitor and analyze social media performance, providing insights and recommendations to achieve our KPIs.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Communications, Marketing and Creative Agency to align messaging and coordinate campaigns in support of our overarching content strategy.
  • Support brand management by ensuring all social media content is consistent with AMA brand guidelines and has been adapted as necessary to suit different platforms and audiences.
  • Support crisis mitigation and reputation management by monitoring online brand sentiment and managing responses to potential escalations.
  • Lead social listening with a sense of urgency, proactively identifying strategic opportunities to engage with members and Albertans.
