About The Position

Santa Clara University's Department of Education is seeking a Lecturer to help grow and lead its new MA in Social Impact Leadership (SILM) program, launching in Fall 2026. This program builds on an existing concentration and aims to prepare early to mid-career professionals for leadership roles in various social impact organizations. It is a joint venture between the School of Education and Counseling Psychology, the Leavey School of Business, and the Miller Center for Global Impact. The curriculum focuses on leadership formation, business fundamentals, and an entrepreneurial mindset, incorporating engagement with social impact leaders, mentors, and a mentored internship/capstone experience. This fixed-term, one-year position, starting September 1, 2026, involves teaching courses and program administrative work. The Department of Education is grounded in four commitments: cura personalis (care for the whole person), social justice, transformation, and diversity. The ideal candidate will embrace and actively carry out these commitments.

Requirements

  • Earned Master's degree or higher in a related field from an accredited university.
  • Extensive successful leadership experience in one or more social impact organizations.
  • Experience working and leading in diverse community environments with a commitment to social justice.
  • Expertise to teach at least two of the following courses: SILM 204 Design Thinking for Social Impact Leaders, SILM 201 Engaging and Understanding Community to Define Social Impact Problems and Strategy, SILM 209 Social Impact Internship I, II, SILM 207 Human Resource Development.

Responsibilities

  • Teach two of the specified courses.
  • Advise students in the Social Impact Leadership program.
  • Provide leadership and guidance for the program's growth.
  • Collaborate with the admissions team to support program enrollment.
  • Work with university leadership (Dean, Associate Dean, Director of Educational Leadership, Miller Center, Leavey School of Business) and the program's Advisory Group to run the program.
  • Cultivate relationships with area organizations and faculty colleagues to develop/refine course syllabi.
  • Foster site partners for the capstone/internship projects.
  • Serve as the Social Impact program coordinator (equivalent to one course load), which includes cultivating relationships with Advisory Group members, meeting regularly with Leavey & Miller Center faculty, collaborating with Admissions and Student Services, advising students, and documenting/creating/revising program documentation.
  • Design and facilitate an internship model and build internship sites and relationships (equivalent to two course loads), including refining the partner recruitment process, recruiting placement sites, and managing MOU agreements.
  • Attend faculty and program meetings (approximately 5% of time).
