About The Position

The Tri-County Regional Centre for Education (TCRCE) is seeking a Social Emotional Learning Teacher for a permanent position starting August 1, 2026. TCRCE serves approximately 6100 students in twenty-two schools across the counties of Shelburne, Yarmouth, and Digby. Requirements

  • Valid Nova Scotia Teacher Certification
  • Bachelor of Education - Elementary
  • Holds a degree in Counselling that is not recognized as meeting qualifications to employed as a School Counsellor in NS; or Teachers with a M.Ed with a focus on Social and Emotional learning.
  • University level courses in special or inclusive education
  • Professional development in Program Support
  • Experience teaching grades P-6
  • Values working alongside those with diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated ability to value the voice and contribution of others while remaining open to corrective criticism.
  • Completion of WHMIS and First Aid, or willingness to obtain upon hire.

Responsibilities

  • Supports and Interventions: Collaboration to deliver strength-based interventions and learning opportunities based on identified school-wide needs.
  • Participation in the Teaching Support Team (TST) and Student Planning Teams (SPT).
  • Provide resources, consultation, coordination, and/or co-delivery of psychoeducational programs within their scope of practice (e.g., classroom presentations, well-being sessions, school-wide events promoting positive school culture and mental health).
  • Group counselling and direct mental health interventions for small, focused groups of students with similar challenges.
  • Providing support and skill development addressing specific identified and prioritized needs.
