SNUG works with community residents, businesses and community-based organizations to implement a strategic public health strategy to reduce and prevent shootings and killings. The Program Manager hires, trains, supervises, directs all staff activities and directly supervises the Outreach Worker Supervisor. The Outreach Worker Supervisor directly supervises the outreach workers and violence interrupters. Skilled outreach workers and the violence interrupters are a key ingredient to the success of this initiative. The Program Manager acts as liaison with law enforcement, the Division of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS), Albany Medical Center and with all other partners, internal and external. It is the Program Manager's responsibility to ensure the efficient operation of the program in accord with federal, state and local law and health and safety guidelines, and established DCJS and agency policy, procedure and protocol.
