SMTS Software Development Engineer

Advanced Micro Devices, Inc•Austin, TX

About The Position

AMD is seeking an SMTS Software Development Engineer to work with architecture specialists to improve future products and use data-minded approaches to target optimization. The role involves staying informed about software and hardware trends, designing and developing AMD technologies, participating in ASIC and hardware bring-ups, debugging existing issues, and researching more efficient ways to accomplish engineering work. The engineer will research, design, develop, troubleshoot, debug, and test systems-level software, including operating systems-level software, compilers, and network distribution software. The role includes defining software requirements and architectures; developing software and tools supporting design, infrastructure, and technology platforms; defining proprietary hardware and software platforms; and driving software and systems solutions through development and product definition. The position works with cross-functional engineering teams on significant, technically important issues and projects. It requires independent judgment in selecting methods and evaluation criteria, with little to no supervision, and applying engineering principles and technology to the design, development, and testing of AMD systems and products. No travel is required.
