About The Position

Linxon, a joint venture between AtkinsRéalis and Hitachi Energy, is seeking a Subject Matter Expert (SME) in Primary Engineering for Energy and Infrastructure Projects in Puerto Rico. This role is crucial for developing innovative Substation Layout Designs (765kV to 11kV) that contribute to the modernization, resiliency, and sustainability of the power grid across the Americas. The position involves collaborating with multidisciplinary teams, including Project Lead Engineers, BIM Engineers, Protection & Control Engineers, and Civil Engineers, to deliver reliable energy access, support renewable integration, and strengthen critical infrastructure. While an individual contributor role, it offers a path for growth into leadership positions within 3-5 years, such as Lead Engineer or Primary Engineering Team Leader. The role is focused on technical mastery and influencing the future of energy infrastructure.

Requirements

Hands-on experience with both outdoor and indoor GIS applications, including a solid understanding of the building infrastructure needed to support indoor GIS systems.
Skilled in CAD software, such as AutoCAD and/or MicroStation, and use these tools to produce accurate, high-quality design deliverables.
Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least five (5) years of experience, or a Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering with at least three (3) years of experience.
Fluent in both English and Spanish, with the ability to speak, read, write, and communicate effectively in both languages.

Nice To Haves

Ideally hold or are working toward a Professional Engineering (P.Eng.) certification.

Responsibilities

Deliver high-voltage designs that strengthen grid reliability and support clean-energy growth.
Produce buildable layouts and specifications that reduce construction issues and keep procurement on track.
Apply advanced engineering analysis to prevent failures and ensure long-term system performance.
Lead design reviews and provide targeted site support to resolve issues early and avoid costly rework.
Collaborate with engineering, supply chain, and field teams to ensure seamless execution from design to energization.
Build customer confidence by presenting clear, dependable technical solutions that enable successful project delivery.
