About The Position

VCA Encina Veterinary Medical Center in Walnut Creek, Ca is seeking a veterinarian who enjoys practicing advanced medicine with a cohesive, tenured team. Our 20 doctor hybrid GP/Specialty/Emergency team is the veterinary referral center of choice in our community. You will be supported by an experienced Hospital Manager and Medical Director, a collaborative group of doctors including a board-certified internist, oncologist, and surgeon, and additional support staff. VCA Encina also has a thriving intern program that trains an average of 6 interns per year and provides opportunities to participate in VCA’s Clinical Studies Program. The position consists of a rotating schedule with some day, swing, and overnight shifts. Our GP and ER doctors generally work an average of 12 shifts/month. The Walnut Creek region offers an ideal year-round climate with numerous recreational options and is within a half day's travel to Lake Tahoe, Sonoma, or the Napa Valley. Walnut Creek is a large, metropolitan city with many world-class restaurants, cafes, microbreweries, and theaters.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Veterinary Medicine (DVM) or equivalent degree.
  • Licensed or eligible for licensure in California.
  • Strong interest in advanced veterinary medicine.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to work a rotating schedule including day, swing, and overnight shifts.
  • Commitment to providing exceptional client and pet care.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a hybrid GP/Specialty/Emergency setting.
  • Interest in participating in clinical studies.
  • Experience with advanced diagnostics (ultrasonography, endoscopy, CT scan).

Responsibilities

  • Participate in a rotating schedule with day, swing, and overnight shifts.
  • Practice advanced medicine.
  • Provide exceptional client and pet care.
  • Utilize state-of-the-art diagnostic equipment.
  • Perform wellness exams, vaccinations, advanced surgery, dentistry, and senior care.
  • Provide 24-hour ICU and emergency care.
  • Conduct advanced diagnostics such as ultrasonography, endoscopy, radiology (x-rays), CT scan.
  • Work with an in-house laboratory.
  • Participate in VCA’s Clinical Studies Program.
  • Potentially mentor or be mentored through VCA Academy’s Mentorship Program.
