About The Position

Welocalize is seeking a Slovak Localization QA Tester / Proofreader for a long-term role. The position focuses on reviewing and refining localized content to ensure it reads naturally and is accurate, polished, and free of errors. Work includes checking grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, formatting, and cultural or contextual accuracy. The role also involves testing products by executing test cases, identifying localization bugs, reporting issues through internal or client-specific bug-tracking systems, and verifying fixes. The tester will explore user interfaces for localization and functional issues and may occasionally translate content from English into Slovak. The position is suited to someone with native-level Slovak fluency, strong attention to detail, and an interest in quality assurance for digital products.

Requirements

Native-level Slovak language skills and cultural awareness of Slovak and Slovakia.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Strong organization and attention to detail, with a commitment to quality.
Ability to understand and prioritize tasks and issues quickly and efficiently.
Ability to follow testing instructions and test cases accurately.
Ability to troubleshoot basic problems and communicate or escalate testing issues effectively.

Background in marketing, journalism, copy editing, proofreading, writing, translation, or localization.
Interest in quality assurance within digital products.

Responsibilities

Write and report relevant bugs and errors through the internal database system, following best practices.
Understand and prioritize tasks and issues efficiently.
Perform QA on various products by accurately following testing instructions and test cases.
Discover and report defects using client-specific bug-tracking tools.
Evaluate translations in the context of software, mobile apps, and documentation.
Act as a subject matter expert on Slovak linguistic issues, researching and resolving linguistic questions.
Follow project-specific quality standards, trademarks, style guides, client-preferred checklists, and glossaries.
Troubleshoot basic problems, communicate testing issues, and escalate them as needed.
Complete assigned tasks to a high standard and on time.
Review localized content for linguistic accuracy, consistency, formatting, and cultural or contextual fit.
Verify that implemented fixes have resolved reported issues.
Explore user interfaces to identify localization or functional issues.
Translate content from English into Slovak when required.
