About The Position

Welocalize is seeking a Slovak Localization QA Tester / Proofreader for a long-term role. The position focuses on reviewing and refining localized Slovak content to ensure it reads naturally and is accurate, polished, and free of errors. Reviews include grammar, spelling, punctuation, consistency, formatting, and cultural or contextual accuracy. The role also involves hands-on product testing: executing test cases, identifying localization bugs, reporting issues through internal or client-specific bug-tracking systems, and verifying fixes. The tester will explore user interfaces to identify localization and functional issues and may occasionally translate content from English into Slovak. The role is suited to someone with native-level Slovak fluency, strong attention to detail, and an interest in quality assurance for digital products. The work arrangement is hybrid, primarily remote, with approximately 10% on-site presence.

Requirements

Native-level Slovak fluency and cultural awareness of Slovak and Slovakia.
Good oral and written communication skills.
Highly organized, with attention to detail and a commitment to quality.
Ability to understand and prioritize tasks and issues quickly and efficiently.
Ability to follow testing instructions and test cases accurately.
Ability to troubleshoot basic problems and communicate or escalate testing issues effectively.

Nice To Haves

Background in marketing, journalism, copy editing, proofreading, writing, translation, and/or localization.
Interest in quality assurance within digital products.

Responsibilities

Write and report relevant bugs and errors through the internal database system, following best practices.
Understand and prioritize tasks and issues quickly and efficiently.
QA products by accurately following testing instructions and test cases.
Discover and report defects using client-specific bug-tracking tools.
Evaluate translations in the context of software, mobile apps, and documentation.
Serve as a subject matter expert for Slovak linguistic issues, researching and resolving linguistic questions.
Follow project-specific quality standards, trademarks, style guides, client-preferred checklists, and glossaries.
Troubleshoot basic problems, communicate effectively, and escalate testing issues.
Complete assigned tasks to a high standard and on time.
Review and refine localized content for linguistic accuracy, consistency, formatting, and cultural or contextual accuracy.
Verify that implemented fixes resolve reported issues correctly.
Explore user interfaces to identify localization or functional issues.
Translate content from English into Slovak when needed.
