Slot Mathematician (Hard Rock Games)

Hard Rock Digital•United States, FL

About The Position

Hard Rock Games is hiring a Slot Mathematician to design, model, and validate the mathematics behind slot games across its portfolio. The role owns mathematical correctness from game design through player-facing release, ensuring models meet target performance metrics and regulatory requirements. The Slot Mathematician partners with game designers, developers, certification labs, and regulators. The role includes designing slot models and features, analyzing and simulating games, verifying implemented builds, producing documentation, supporting certification, and contributing to shared mathematical tools and code. AI tools may be used to prototype ideas, generate code, and explore possibilities, while the mathematician retains responsibility for correctness.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years designing math models for slot games, with shipped titles in iGaming, social, or land-based environments.
  • Ability to build and analyze slot models directly using data analysis tools and perform direct mathematical analysis.
  • Strong programming and problem-solving skills; Java is preferred, while Python, C++, or C# are also welcome.
  • Comfort with version control systems such as Git and shared code repositories.
  • Strong grasp of probability, combinatorics, and expected-value analysis.
  • Ability to manually verify, derive, and explain mathematical results, and understand why a model is correct rather than only that it runs.
  • Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
  • Clear communication skills, including the ability to explain mathematical concepts to designers, producers, and regulators.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a regulated environment is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Design and model slot game mathematics, including reel strips, paytables, symbol weights, bonus features, free spins, and jackpots.
  • Tune models to achieve target RTP, hit frequency, and volatility, including multiple RTP variants.
  • Analyze simpler games using data analysis tools and write and validate code simulations for more complex games.
  • Playtest game builds and verify that implementation matches the designed model, payouts, and feature behavior.
  • Produce PAR sheets and comprehensive math documentation for internal review and certification labs such as GLI and BMM.
  • Support regulatory certification across jurisdictions by responding to lab and regulator questions.
  • Partner with game designers early to advise on feature costs in RTP and impacts on volatility.
  • Help build a shared Java codebase of simulators, model libraries, and math tools, beginning with existing tools.
  • Work with developers from specification through release to ensure correct math implementation.
  • Use AI tools to prototype ideas, generate code, and explore possibilities while maintaining ownership of correctness.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation
  • Flexible vacation
  • Hybrid work
