About The Position

Arrow International is seeking a Game Design Mathematician based at its Chicago studio. The role works closely with a Game Designer to use mathematical and software skills to develop prize-first math models for the company’s electronic gaming products. The position designs slot-style game math models, translates concepts into software, and develops metrics and documentation to support data-driven iteration. It also involves building knowledge of North American slot markets and working collaboratively to create engaging games. The targeted pay range is $70,000–$90,000, commensurate with experience.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics, Data Analysis, or Software Engineering, or equivalent experience.
Experience with C#.
Experience with Excel.
Strong grasp of mathematical principles and probability.
Excellent organizational skills.
Ability to adapt quickly and move between projects with little notice.
Ability to work overtime and weekends when required to meet project schedules.
Ability to travel on a limited basis.
Ability to meet the listed physical demands, with reasonable accommodations where applicable.

Nice To Haves

Gaming experience is highly preferred.
Knowledge of development tools such as Confluence, JIRA, or Bitbucket.

Responsibilities

Design slot-style game math models using the prize-first math engine.
Translate game concepts and mathematical ideas into software using C#.
Develop and maintain math-characteristic metrics to support data-driven decisions while iterating on math model designs.
Create and maintain PAR sheets detailing game math models.
Develop working knowledge of North American slot markets and identify trends to help ensure game designs are contemporary and meet market requirements.
Collaborate with the team to align priorities and work toward solutions.
Create fun games with an engaging player experience.
