About The Position

The Slitter Material Handler sets up and operates high-speed equipment with robotic elements to form or cut steel to specified dimensions and specifications. The role reports to the Plant Manager and requires regular, full-time, predictable onsite attendance according to the posted schedule. The shift is first shift, 5:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Ability to read and write English and maintain production records and logs.
Ability to perform addition, subtraction, decimals, and fractions.
Experience using measuring devices such as tape measures, micrometers, and calipers.
Ability to operate a forklift, crane, and other equipment needed to complete the job.
Detail-oriented, with the ability to work independently.
Ability to meet the role’s physical requirements, including lifting up to 60 pounds, standing for 10–12 hours, and lifting, climbing, bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling.

Responsibilities

Observe safety and lockout/tagout (LOTO) rules while operating equipment.
Set up and calibrate equipment.
Inspect materials for quality issues before, during, and after production.
Record and report quality deficiencies to the supervisor or quality department.
Maintain equipment tooling and tools needed to complete the job.
Diagnose equipment and quality problems while minimizing scrap and delays.
Perform housekeeping to keep work areas clean and safe.
Complete reports related to production, changeovers, and scrap material.
Assist maintenance with equipment repairs and preventive maintenance.
Participate in continuous improvement programs.
Promote health and safety practices in accordance with regulatory agencies and company policy.
Perform other duties as assigned by management.
