About The Position

Sleep Direct Support Professional position at Devereux New York, located in Kingston, NY. This role involves working with children and adults with developmental disabilities, including intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses. The Sleep DSP is permitted to sleep overnight at their assigned location, anticipating an average of seven hours of sleep per night, while being responsive to resident needs if support is required. During awake hours, the DSP will assist individuals with daily activities such as health and personal management, achieving personal goals, and daily household living. The role also includes maintaining a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program individuals, aiming to improve functioning and minimize interfering behaviors.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma / GED required.
  • One year experience preferred.
  • Have a Valid NY Driver's License.
  • Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor.
  • Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.
  • Zero-tolerance policy for abuse and maintains policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse to occur in our organization.
  • Fosters a culture of reporting abuse, and will cooperate with the authorities to the fullest extent possible.

Nice To Haves

  • Associates Degree preferred.
  • Consideration will be given for a candidate without a High School diploma if enrolled in a GED program.

Responsibilities
