About The Position

Devereux New York is seeking dedicated professionals to join their team as Sleep Direct Support Professionals (DSP). This role offers the unique opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of children and adults with developmental disabilities while earning money during sleep hours. The position is located in Tivoli, NY, and involves overnight stays at the assigned location, with an expectation of approximately seven hours of sleep per night. While sleeping, the DSP must be available to respond to residents' needs. During awake hours, the DSP will assist individuals with daily activities such as health and personal management, achieving personal goals, and household tasks. The role also involves maintaining a safe and therapeutic environment that addresses the physical, emotional, and personal needs of the residents, aiming to improve functioning and minimize challenging behaviors. Devereux New York serves individuals with intellectual disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorder, and dual diagnoses.

Requirements

High School Diploma / GED required.
Valid NY Driver's License.
Be flexible, patient, energetic, creative, and have a sense of humor.
Have a strong passion for working with and helping children and adults with special needs.
Devereux has a zero-tolerance policy for abuse and maintains policies and procedures to systematically reduce the risk of abuse to occur in our organization.

Nice To Haves

Associates Degree preferred.
Consideration will be given for a candidate without a High School diploma if enrolled in a GED program.
One year experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Sleep overnight at the assigned location, anticipating an average of seven hours of sleep per night, while being responsive to the needs of the residents in the event that support is needed.
Assist individuals in daily activities, including health and personal management.
Assist individuals in achieving personal goals.
Assist individuals with daily household living.
Maintain a safe and therapeutic treatment environment that meets the physical, emotional, and personal needs of program individuals.
Improve functioning and minimize interfering behaviors of program individuals.
