About The Position

A SLA tutor provides academic support through SLA workshop sessions focused on specific courses or topics with the guidance of the SLA facilitator. This role involves assisting SLA workshops that review key concepts, reinforce course material, and help students prepare for assignments and exams. SLA tutors help students learn by providing focused, interactive learning activities in a group setting. SLA workshops take place in a classroom provided by the department or professor for up to 1 hour and 15 per session.

Responsibilities

  • Reports directly to the SLA Director
  • Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information
  • Performs all duties in compliance with applicable university policies and procedures, as well as state and federal requirements
  • Assists the SLA facilitator in weekly SLA workshops, including clarifying course concepts, incorporating study skills, generating notes from course lectures/labs, and preparing workshop materials.
  • Meeting with course SLA facilitator, faculty, and the SLA director adhering to program policies, and maintaining appropriate workshop records as instructed.
  • Responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of designated information
  • Performs all duties in compliance with applicable university policies and procedures, as well as state and federal requirements
  • SLA tutors do not grade papers or teach on behalf of faculty
  • The SLA tutor can provide tutoring support upon student request, either individually or in groups in the ALC
