About The Position

The Strait Regional Centre for Education (SRCE) is seeking to fill a Skilled Trades Teacher position. This role is part of the public education system in Nova Scotia, established to deliver the public school program with a focus on supporting student learning, achievement, well-being, and overall success. The SRCE serves approximately 5,948 students in 20 schools and around 375 children in pre-primary programs across 14 locations. The jurisdiction covers Antigonish, Guysborough, Inverness, and Richmond counties in northeastern Nova Scotia.

Requirements

  • Valid teacher certification for the Province of Nova Scotia.
  • Methodology courses, experience, or practicum teaching in the subject area(s) at the appropriate level for the competition.
  • Excellent classroom and student management skills.
  • Knowledge and experience in the application of technologies used to enhance instruction and learning.
  • Knowledge and/or experience in implementing inclusive teaching and assessment strategies.
  • Red Seal in Welding or other metal fabrication trade.
  • Basic training to teach courses related to the O-2 program.
  • CPR/First Aid Instructor Training.
  • In-depth knowledge of industrial workplace safety.
  • WHMIS.
  • OHS.
  • Life Work Portfolio Development.
  • Must provide current (within 6 mos.), and clear Child Abuse Registry & Criminal Record-Vulnerable Sector check prior to hire.
