The Ski Patrol Training Coordinator establishes and manages a consistent training program to prepare Ski Patrollers to manage mountain hazards and provide high-quality guest service and care. The role develops specialized knowledge and practical skills while establishing a consistent baseline of proficiency across the department. The Training Coordinator reports to the Ski Patrol Director and works closely with Team Leads, Hill Captains, Snow Safety, and qualified instructors. The position must remain sufficiently separate from daily Ski Patrol operations to enable effective planning, delivery, and evaluation of training. When operational coverage is needed, the coordinator may serve as a Hill Captain or rotation patroller, provided those duties do not interfere with training responsibilities. Training covers new-hire onboarding, guest service, mountain geography and terrain, trail maintenance and hazard marking, first aid and scene management, toboggan handling, incident investigation, annual refreshers, dispatch, snowmobile operations, lift evacuation, avalanche mitigation and rescue, and in- and out-of-bounds search and rescue, as well as other required training. The role requires working indoors and outdoors in variable weather, snow, and mountain conditions, using appropriate personal protective equipment and following Ski Patrol safety practices and resort policies.
