Ski Patrol (RETURNING EMPLOYEES ONLY) - 26-27 Winter Season
About The Position
Ski Patrol members help ensure the safety and well-being of guests on ski slopes and maintain the safety of Schweitzer’s terrain. They provide emergency medical care, perform mountain rescues, enforce resort safety policies, mark or remove hazards, and manage avalanche risks. The role patrols resort areas on downhill skis and may be on call for lift failures or injuries. This is a seasonal position open to returning employees only. The position may be full-time or part-time. Ski Patrol members must be able to ski at an expert level in all weather conditions, lift over 50 pounds with or without assistance, and wear appropriate protective equipment while operating snowmobiles or skiing on the clock.
Requirements
- Returning employees only.
- Minimum age of 18.
- English reading, writing, and communication skills.
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- First aid and avalanche training.
- Outdoor Emergency Care (OEC), CPR, and Level I Avalanche certifications.
- Ability to ski at an expert level in all weather conditions.
- Ability to lift over 50 pounds with or without assistance.
- Deep knowledge of Schweitzer terrain.
- Background check required.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of medical response experience is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Ensure the safety of skiers and snowboarders and maintain the safety of Schweitzer’s terrain.
- Apply avalanche awareness and control training.
- Mark or remove hazards and post signs for dangerous or closed areas and difficult terrain.
- Report areas needing grooming or ramp repairs.
- Respond to emergency, medical, and first-aid situations.
- Carry explosives for avalanche work.
- Be on call for lift failures or injuries.
- Patrol areas on downhill skis.
- Drive a snowmobile.
- Work effectively with coworkers as a team under all conditions.
- Obtain or maintain extensive knowledge of Schweitzer Mountain Resort facilities and activities.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
