Ski Instructor - Winter Season 26-27
About The Position
Ski and Ride School coaches deliver quality ski lessons using the school’s training materials and PSIA/AASI methodology. Instructors serve as educators and resort ambassadors, promoting safety, fun, learning, and guest satisfaction. The role includes teaching lessons, supporting team culture, participating in training, and contributing to department goals. Instructors primarily teach beginner ski lessons to children ages 4–17. Part-time instructors are expected to work 2–3 days per week, while full-time instructors are expected to work 4–6 days per week. The position is seasonal for the 2026–27 winter season. Employment may be full-time or part-time seasonal, with an hourly wage of $19.00–$45.00 depending on certification and lesson type. Applicants must be at least 16 years old, and a background check is required.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 16.
- Ability to ski or snowboard intermediate-level terrain in varying and sometimes hazardous snow and weather conditions.
- Ability to stand for long periods while wearing ski or ride equipment.
- Ability to frequently or constantly balance, reach, squat, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and twist.
- Ability to perform unusual skiing or snowboarding movements to assist children on the mountain.
- Ability to occasionally carry, lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
- Excellent, professional verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a growth mindset and a willingness to collaborate, communicate, and encourage.
- Willingness to continue developing people, teaching, and technical skills.
- Current, working ski and/or snowboard equipment; ski bindings must be tested by the repair shop.
- Helmet use is required; helmets can be provided at no cost.
- Background check required.
Nice To Haves
- PSIA certifications preferred.
- Previous experience working with children preferred.
- Previous experience as a ski or ride instructor preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach beginner ski lessons, primarily to children ages 4–17.
- Provide safe, engaging lessons tailored to guests’ ability levels.
- Create a supportive learning environment focused on confidence and progression.
- Assess student abilities and provide constructive feedback.
- Follow safety protocols and mountain policies.
- Attend required training and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with snow shoveling, learning-area setup and teardown, lesson records, incident reports, and other assigned duties.
- Support team culture and contribute to department goals.
