The Medical Ski Patrol Volunteer assists the ski patrol in maintaining a reasonable skiing environment and aids injured or sick guests at Copper Mountain. The role supports duty-station responsibilities, skier safety, trail checks, search and rescue, lift evacuations, and other assigned duties. Responsibilities require developing decision-making proficiency and excellent people skills. Volunteers conduct medical assessments and treatment, document incidents, support trail openings and closures, mark light obstacles, conduct sweeps, assist at special events, help locate lost or separated guests, and provide medical assistance during lift evacuations. They also promote skier safety, maintain visibility on the mountain, assist with patroller training, maintain medical certifications, enter incident and missing-person information into computer systems, and coordinate with other Copper Mountain departments. Skiing and snowboarding improvement across terrain and snow conditions is encouraged. Volunteers act as Copper Mountain ambassadors, model the resort’s culture and professional image, and strive to exceed guest expectations. This is an evolving volunteer role, and responsibilities may change. The position requires flexibility with volunteering hours and days, working in cold and inclement weather at high elevations, skiing variable conditions, and potentially carrying or transporting awkward equipment. Candidates must be at least 21, currently employed in the medical field, and latex-tolerant. A criminal background check is conducted after acceptance.
