About The Position
Snowboard Instructors at Schweitzer’s Ski and Ride School deliver quality lessons using school training materials and PSIA/AASI methodology. They serve as educators and resort ambassadors, promoting safety, fun, learning, and guest satisfaction. The role includes teaching beginner snowboard lessons, primarily to children ages 4–17; supporting a positive team culture; attending training; and contributing to department goals. Part-time seasonal instructors are expected to work 2–3 days per week, while full-time seasonal instructors are expected to work 4–6 days per week. The listed wage range is $19.00 to $45.00 per hour, based on certification and lesson type. The minimum age is 16. A background check is required; driver verification is not required.
Requirements
- Minimum age of 16.
- Ability to ski or snowboard at an intermediate level across all types of terrain and in varying, sometimes hazardous, snow and weather conditions.
- Ability to stand for long periods while wearing ski or ride equipment.
- Ability to frequently or constantly balance, reach, squat, bend, kneel, stoop, handle, and twist.
- Ability to occasionally carry, lift, push, or pull up to 75 pounds.
- Excellent and professional verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work in a team environment with a growth mindset and willingness to collaborate, communicate, and encourage.
- Willingness to continue developing people, teaching, and technical skills.
- Current, working ski and/or snowboard equipment; ski bindings must be tested by the repair shop.
- Ability to meet the physical demands of assisting children on the mountain, including potentially performing unusual skiing or snowboarding movements.
Nice To Haves
- PSIA certifications are preferred.
- Previous experience working with children is preferred.
- Previous experience as a ski or ride instructor is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach beginner snowboard lessons, primarily to children ages 4–17.
- Provide safe, engaging lessons tailored to guests’ ability levels.
- Create a supportive learning environment focused on confidence and progression.
- Assess student abilities and provide constructive feedback.
- Follow safety protocols and mountain policies.
- Attend required training and professional development opportunities.
- Assist with snow shoveling and learning-area setup and teardown.
- Complete lesson records, incident reports, and other required documentation in a timely manner.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Contribute to team culture and overall department goals.
